Our Raw (Unwashed) Long wool Fleece Selection Boxes contain six raw (unwashed) Long wool 100g fleece bundles to enable you to try a variety of fibres. This fleece is unwashed and ready to spin in the raw or to wash then spin or felt or use for decoration or doll hair.

Each box contains 1 X 100g Wensleydale, 1 X 100g Teeswater, 1 X 100g Suri Alpaca, 1 X 100g Mohair, 1 X 100g Blue faced Leicester, 1 X 100g Wensleydale Shearling.

Each box also comes with some information on each breed and washing instructions. Our Blue Faced Leicester fleece comes from a small farm in Devon.  The fleece is sought after and  often used as effect fibres for felting work, art yarns and dolls hair due to their fine, ringlets with a light sheen. When processed into tops the fibre can be hand spun to any yarn weight . Average staple length is 4 inch (10cm.)

Our Mohair fibre comes from a very small herd local to us just over the border  in Cornwall. This mohair comes from young Angora Goats, is fine and silky. Lovely to spin or use for doll hair. Average staple length is 5 inch (13cm.) 

Suri Alpaca fleece is the natural fibre harvested from a Suri alpaca.  It is a soft, durable, luxurious and silky natural fibre. While similar to sheep’s wool, it is warmer, not prickly, and has no lanolin, which makes it hypoallergenic. Alpaca is naturally water-repellent and difficult to ignite. This fleece is approximately 5 inches (13 cm) long

This Teeswater Fleece is from a small herd of sheep in Devon. It is hand sorted with a  length of approximately 6" (16 cm) and is excellent for spinning and a wide range of craft activities including doll hair. 

This Wensleydale loose fibre is sourced from a small flock of Sheep in Cornwall. Our Wensleydale fleece in 100g is hand sorted with a  length of approximately 6" (16 cm) and is excellent for spinning and a wide range of craft activities including doll hair.

This Wensleydale Shearling loose fibre is sourced from a small flock of Sheep in Cornwall. Our Wensleydale  Shearling fleece in 100g is super fine and silky is hand sorted with a  length of approximately 4" (10 cm) and is excellent for spinning and a wide range of craft activities including doll hair.

Although there may be some vegetable matter in this fleece it has been picked over and skirted and is ready to be spun raw or washed.

At Newmoor barn we only source our sheep fleece from local small farms which we can visit to ensure the animals are treated with care and respect. All of our fibres are processed entirely by hand.
