Alpaca fleece is the natural fiber harvested from an alpaca. It is light or heavy in weight, depending on how it is spun. It is a soft, durable, luxurious and silky natural fiber. While similar to sheep’s wool, it is warmer, not prickly, and has no lanolin, which makes it hypoallergenic. Alpaca is naturally water-repellent and difficult to ignite.

The Suffolk sheep is a UK breed and is classified as short-wool and down. Its dense fleece is suited to applications where a good bulk is required. With an average of 35-40 Microns and an average length of 75-80mm it is perfect for hand spinning and many other craft uses.

This Fleece Comes From a Local Farm in Cornwall. Unusually for a hill breed sheep, the Exmoor Horn produces a very fine quality fleece which is of excellent colour, good staple length (approx 5 inches) and quality, with a micron count of 36.7

Our Soft Wensleydale loose fibre is sourced from a small flock of Sheep in Devon.

Our Wensleydale fleece in 200g is hand sorted and hand washed with varying lengths between 5" and 9 " and is excellent for spinning and a wide range of craft activities.

At Newmoor barn we only source our sheeps fleece from local small farms which we can visit to ensure the animals are treated with care and respect. All of our fibres are processed entirely by hand.

This is Suri Alpaca which is a super soft, undyed fiber, which has been washed but left loose for your chosen use.

The Texal has a soft wool fleece with medium staple - 2-3 inches ideal for handspinning to produce a woollen yarn and great for felting projects. Our Texal Fleece is sourced from a farmer local to us in West Devon. Our carded wool is hand picked, hand washed, and takes dyes well.
